We’re guided by a desire to put drivers first. As our company grows, we offer programs and incentives that back drivers and help them succeed. Let our history tell you the story of who we are. Follow our journey from one driver to many.

A founding friendship leaves a legacy. Learn more about Sky's first driver.

Albert Luna founded Sky Transportation with one truck and a dream to serve. He knew taking care of his only driver, Raymundo “Mundo” Esquivias, was the key to a good business.

Mundo had been an over-the-road truck driver for years. He took a chance and agreed to be the company’s first driver. In May of 2000, Mundo took off on his first day at Sky in a new, pearly-white Freightliner.

Before driving for him, Mundo did not know Mr. Luna, but the two quickly became close friends. Mundo became a part of the Luna family, attending holidays, eating out with Albert, and later pursuing a career in Sky’s management.

Despite experiencing difficult times as a driver—whether it was fuel cards, a late pickup or a breakdown—Mundo showed a willingness to work and loyalty to Sky and Mr. Luna.

Mundo set the example for future Sky drivers. He was a hard-working employee who became a part of the family. In over 11 years with Sky, Mundo grew from a quiet, reserved individual to someone the entire company leaned on. Mundo unfortunately passed away in 2011.

Although he is gone, the loyalty and service Mundo established as Sky’s first driver is instilled in every driver who walks through our door, aiming to serve their families and communities.
